Just like that little boat, you feel the waves of the day. Some days the water is calm, and some days the wind picks up.
Moods are like that. They rise and they fall, and every one of them passes. And like the boat, you always come back to level.
Whenever you feel a mood rising, perhaps irritation, worry or a heavy feeling, you pause. You put your feet flat on the floor, and you feel the ground beneath you, solid and steady.
You take one slow breath in, and an even slower breath out, letting the breath out be longer than the breath in.
And you say quietly to yourself, “This is a wave, and I am the keel.”
Then, from that calm, steady place, you choose what to do next.
How Steve got his own life back on track
Steve lost his mother at an early age and grew up with his father, who battled alcohol abuse. Later, career detours and failed business ventures left him $80,000 in credit card debt, with collection agencies beating down on his door, and after he was evicted from his own place he lived out of his office, which he was about to lose as well.
He turned it around when he discovered a way to reprogram his mind and put systems in place to get his life back on track, using Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques and a specific framework for happiness and success. From that he developed the Dream Life Mastery Program.
Today Dr. Steve G. Jones is a licensed Clinical Hypnotherapist who has practiced hypnotherapy and NLP since the 1980s. He manages 22 training certification programs in hypnosis and NLP, and he is the President of the American Alliance of Hypnotists and of the American Union of NLP.
